Most people think free unclaimed money was a myth. If you are one of them then you need to give it a second thought, because according to a recent survey there are billions of dollars lying in the US treasury in the form of free unclaimed money.

Another little known fact is free unclaimed money is growing at an unprecedented rate across the United States of America with each state contributing its share.

Free unclaimed money came into being when the rightful owners of properties, shares, bank accounts, other financial assets disappeared owing to a change in job, marriage or death.

In order to get your share of free unclaimed money, all you need to do is file a claim and reclaim your dues. You never know, you might become rich by simply unearthing your hidden property and pave way for the others to follow suit.

When such individuals failed to claim their assets within a certain period (usually three to five years, the related institutions that had taken possession of these assets as potential working capital passed them over to their respective states.

The government and states then transfer them to the treasury department and labeled them as free unclaimed money.

Government unclaimed money can be in the form of hard assets like property, forgotten bank accounts, shares or financial bonds. How does your money become government unclaimed money?

Here is the simple answer :

It all happens when you relocate to another state on the pretext of getting a new job or marriage, die in an accident or become disabled. In such a scenario, more often than not, you tend to forget about your own funds and fail to keep track of your financial institutions.

When this happens, your money is immediately taken up by your respective bank or financial institution where it functions as a potential working capital for a period of three to five years. After this, it is conveniently transferred in the form of government unclaimed money to the state treasury.

So, where is the unclaimed money held?

The funds lie with the government till the time its rightful owners do not come forth to stake a claim. The claims can either be done by hiring a professional or by using the services of the internet. Either way, you need to hurry for the government unclaimed money is waiting for your arrival.

The states don’t bother to locate the rightful owners on the pretext of minimal manpower but the truth is far from this, for the government unclaimed money actually help the states in meeting their financial deficits.

Now that the entire process is crystal clear, start your easy search for free unclaimed money today!

First reaction is that its a scam and its too good to be true? If you received a letter in the mail about this saying you have lost or unclaimed money, how would you react?
Texas is a big state with big unclaimed money. The amount of unclaimed money lying with the Texas State Comptroller\’s office is $2 billion and as per their estimates there are some 200,000 people who are entitled to a share of this money but don’t know it. In recent times, the state has been able to return more than $532 million to its rightful owners.

As in most states, the amount of unclaimed money continues to grow with each passing year. This is because for every 10 people who make the effort to trace money that is due to them, there are 15 more who don’t realize that they have money owing and so do not make the effort.

When people move to new locations, they often forget to leave a forwarding address. Because of this tax refunds and insurance payments are not delivered. In many cases people have inheritances due to them but the executors of the estate are unable to find the beneficiaries. All these funds and any others that are due to a person who cannot be located goes to the State Comptroller\’s office where it stays until the rightful owner is either found or comes forward to make a claim.

Are there any bank accounts, savings accounts, safe deposit boxes, forgotten paychecks, stock dividends or gift certificates that you have forgotten about or may be unaware of? These need not even be in your name. You are entitled to any unclaimed money that may have belonged to a person now deceased if you are the rightful beneficiary.

One of the reasons why there is so much unclaimed money in Texas and other states is that most people think that its always the other guy who gets lucky in this way and so they don’t bother to check and see if money is due to them. Its worthwhile to go through old family records to see if there is any money that may have been forgotten about or was not received. Even if you are not sure about the correct situation or don’t have any information, there\’s no harm in checking up to see if some of Texas\’s $2 billion in unclaimed money could be rightfully yours.

Go to a good unclaimed money website and see how easy it is to search for money that could be yours.

You have a few options for which database to use to conduct your search:

1. Use an \”All-in-One\” database

This is the best option for conducting your unclaimed funds search. An all in one database has money from all 50 states and federal databases. Usually an all in one site will offer free searches to make sure you are owed money before accessing the database.

2. See which accounts are yours by looking at the name and origin of the money. You may also see a past or present address associated with the account that is yours.

3. Once you have identified the unclaimed property accounts owed to you all you have to do is print a claim for and submit it with the require proof of identification. Proof of identification is usually copies of a driver\’s license or state issued ID card and a birth certificate or social security card.

The claim review process takes anywhere from 2 to 16 weeks depending on the state or agency you are submitting the claim to.

If you have a problem with your claim call the agency and request to speak to the unclaimed property division.

Now you are armed with all you need to know about unclaimed property. So go find and claim yours today!

The American State of Pennsylvania is currently holding a massive amount of about $ 1 billion, which is actually unclaimed money. Moreover, the owners of this unclaimed money are none other than the millions of Americans spread countrywide. The time when Pennsylvania decided to return this money i.e. since January 2005, it has returned an estimate $ 223 million unclaimed money to over 1,50,000 Americans.

Now you may inquire what this Pennsylvania Unclaimed Money is all about? This money becomes unclaimed due to the negligence or ignorance on the part of its owner as regards its dealings. Thus, unclaimed money can come from some of the following sources –engaged

1. The saving accounts in banks that are abandoned or even the old checking accounts.

2. Safe deposit boxes.

3. Money engaged in life insurance policies.

4. The cheques that are not transformed into cash.

5. Some forgotten stocks.

6. Certificate of deposits.

These are just to name a few of the sources from where the unclaimed money can come.

Do you owe to some of the unclaimed money? According to the Pennsylvania Treasury Department, you might owe to the money if –

a. You were named beneficiary on a life insurance policy.

b. You forgot to cash in any of your gifts.

c. You opened a savings account in some bank and forgot about it or that your account went dormant as you did not make any deposits or withdrawals for a significant period of time.

d. You shifted the house and did not convey the change of address at the Post Office and so, had money coming to you.

e. You never received the final paycheck of your last job after you left it for a new one.

Apart from this, there can be quite a lot of reasons why you may be owed to the Pennsylvania Unclaimed Money. What is more, you may be owed to this money not only in the state of your residence but also in some other state.

There are a few sites like www.cashunclaimed.com that will help to find you the money you owe to. It provides a nationwide database search covering all the 50 states of America. Avoid searching on a state level database because it may not ensure you all the money you owe to.

After reading all this, you may be pondering how to save your property from becoming unclaimed. You don’t have to take many troubles for that. Only take some safety measures like –

- Make sure you have accurate records or all accounts including bank accounts, stocks, bonds, pensions, 401K, safe deposit boxes, life insurance policies, etc.

- Ensure a family member, attorney, executor or trusted adviser knows the locations of your financial records and accounts.

- Keep financial institutions holding savings, checking, IRA, certificate of deposit and all other accounts up to date on your current contact information and mailing address.

- You should also correspond with all financial institutions at least once every three years.

- Cash all checks for dividends, insurance benefits and wages. If you stop receiving dividends, contact the company that issues the dividends.

Save yourself and your family from the problem of unclaimed money and if you have any unclaimed money then search for it today!

Always short of cash?? You may not believe it but you may be owed Oregon Unclaimed Money!!!

If you are always short of cash, one of the reasons may be that some of your money is being held by the State of Oregon as unclaimed money. While it may be difficult to believe at first, the truth is that more than two hundred and twenty million dollars is in the possession of the State of Oregon as unclaimed money. The State of Oregon owes money to million so Americans and you may be one of them. The best part is that the Oregon Unclaimed money is being returned to its rightful owners. Since the first month of 2005, the State of Oregon has repaid more than eleven million dollars to rightful owners of Oregon Unclaimed Money. However, there is still a long way to go as the estimates of the Unclaimed Property Section in Oregon Department of State Lands suggests that there are more than one million individuals in the United States of America who have a claim over Oregon Unclaimed money.

The staggering statistics begs the question- How on earth did Oregon end up with so much of Unclaimed money?? Well, there are hundreds and thousands of old checking accounts in the banks in the State of Oregon that have never been claimed by its rightful owners. Further, there are many unused savings accounts that are never closed by the account holder. The truth is that the odd dollar forgotten in an abandoned savings account contributes a lot to the total kitty of Oregon Unclaimed money. Further, many individuals who had purchased stocks and forgot all about it too contribute to the kitty. Other transactions that lead to origination of Oregon unclaimed money are checks not cashed, forgotten certificates of deposits and life insurance policies, abandoned and unused safe deposit boxes etc. Hence, if you have ever dealt in any of the transactions mentioned above, do find out whether you can claim your share in the unclaimed money in the state of Oregon.

More than thirty two million dollars are added to as unclaimed money and this occurs primarily because people who were named as beneficiaries in life insurance policies or people who were awarded gift certificates or people who were receiving money before they changed their address never did anything about it. If you had opened a savings account and stopped using it after some time of if you changed jobs and forgot all about your final paycheck which was due to you, all your money is a part of the Oregon unclaimed money and is still payable to you.

Thankfully, a nation wide database exists for individuals to determine whether unclaimed money is owed to them or not. Prefer websites that offer comprehensive search of state and federal databases. Prefer websites like www.cashunclaimed.com.

The most sensible thing to do is to money and property belonging to you to lapse as unclaimed money. Prevention is better than cure and the smartest thing to do is to keep track of all your financial transactions to ensure you do not have any unclaimed money against your name.

find money,found money

According to a study made recently in the United States by financial experts, 9 out of 10 Americans should get a part of the unclaimed money. As a matter of fact, a staggering sum of money ( billions of dollars to be more exact ) from unclaimed money, funds, IRS refunds are laying around in several Government agencies, some of them are yours and you should do something about this situation, with other words, claim what you are entitled to.

The Internet can help you regarding this matter, there are several trusted online records information providers that can help you reclaim what belongs to you: money, property, refunds. For example the records traces can include: holocaust victims settlement funds, missing bonds & lost saved deposit boxes, social security benefits and postal money orders, missing inheritances and abandoned properties and the list could go on.

If you are wondering for how long the unclaimed funds are held then you should know that once the funds are remitted, in almost every situation, the funds are held in a perpetual trust fund ( with other words, forever ) until the owner of the funds can be found. The law is on the owner’s side because there are provisions that protect the holder from potential liability.

Another question that many people ask is how do holders know when to report unclaimed property – the obligation to report & remit these funds is triggered when there hasn’t been any owner ( generated activity for a determined period of time, also known as “ dormancy period “ ).

As I have mentioned in the second paragraph, the Internet is a great tool for claiming what is yours. You are probably wondering how these sites actually work, it is quite simple as a matter of fact: you just have to enter your name and address and they will trace down your financial history and find out what you are entitled to as well as the source of origin for it, source ID and other similar information. It is quite easy, anyone can do it, there aren’t any financial knowledge you must be aware of.

If you don’t trust these sites you should ask yourself what do you have to lose? I will answer it for you, nothing; you can only gain by accessing these sites. Many people have no idea about unclaimed money, this is why you should exclude yourself from this category; you have some rights, you are entitled to money/property/IRS refunds, why not take what is yours?

Regarding security of your personal data people shouldn’t make any problems as these sites take every precaution to protect their users/members, online and offline. Many of these sites have links to other similar sites, this is very useful because you can enter each site and then choose which one is the most suitable for your needs.

All in all, using these sites is a quick and efficient way to claim what you are entitled to and more and more people should use this method for getting back what they in fact own.
